The STRENGTh project is expected to help guidance practitioners to acquire transversal and social skills in order to improve their effectiveness and furthermore the employability of themselves and their clients’ as well.
The STRENGTh project focuses on increasing Social and Emotional competences of career counsellors.
The project aims at developing an innovative training program for improving social-emotional competences in guidance and career counselling area, based on rigorous research, the main beneficiaries being the career guidance practitioners and school counsellors.
The Aim of the Project
The aim of the project is to propose specific solutions to train a new generation of socially aware career guidance and counselling professionals, able to develop and use interpersonal and social intelligence skills, in order to successfully build professional relationships and navigate diverse social environments.
The STRENGTh project will focus on increasing Social and Emotional competences in career counsellors. STRENGTh project intends to support Social Inclusion, provide opportunities for initial and in-service training of trainers and career counsellors and implement open and innovative practices in a digital era.
Context
Due to the deep economic crisis with rising unemployment, the European labor markets are expected to change profoundly. Thus, counselling and guidance will be needed throughout life. It is necessary for individuals to shape and manage their careers throughout life. Therefore, is considered vital for quality assurance and effective career guidance and counseling services that the training career guidance practitioners are effective in counselling area.
The professional interaction between the career/ guidance counselor and his client is a very personal and important element of counseling. It is mainly based on understanding clients, their moods and thoughts and this fact requires good communication skills, showing sensitivity to others’ feelings/ emotions, motivations, understanding and managing relationships with other people and developing healthy personal relationships.
Therefore, it is absolutely necessary for counsellors to have better social, emotional and interpersonal skills.
The project will develop innovative methods and tools that enable career guidance practitioners in being more effective and improving their competences.
