16PF® 5—Detailed Test Description
16 Personality FactorsAuthors: Raymond B. Cattell, A. Karen S. Cattell & Heather E.P. Cattell Use: Identification of personality traits. It is used for personnel assessment and selection, career orientation and guidance and all types of counselling. Short description: It is the evolution of the 4th edition of 16 PF Personality Test-A Form. The 5th edition has 185 issues that include 16 scales of primary personality factors, and 5 secondary factors that have been created form the combination of primary factors. New treatment indicators have been applied to estimate predisposed answers. “Faking Good” and “Faking Bad” scales have been replaced by Impression Management (IM) indicator. The 5th edition also includes the Αcquiescence (ACQ) scale, which measures people’s inclination to choose “true” regardless of the question, and the Infrequency (INF). This new edition is improved regarding the formulation of the questions and the answer scale (the middle answer is ?). The psychometric characteristics have also been improved. Norms / Weight: There are separate norms for the Greek population that refer to children/adults and to men/women. Grading Method: The 5th edition can be graded through a computer using ISON's specialized software. The answering sheets are put into specialized software through a scanner, where raw scores are converted to stens, resulting to the diagram and the analytical personality report. For educational reasons test can also be grading manually using a set of keys. Since 2005 the test can also be supplied and graded through the Internet. Validity: 16PF-5 is related to 16PF-4th edition (r=0,31 ως 0,81), as well as to PRF®(Personality Research Form), CPI (California Psychological Inventory), Neo PI-R (ΝΕΟ Personality Inventory Revised) and MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Inventory) Furthermore, it is related to measurements of self-esteem, adaptability, social skills, creativity, leadership skills and empathy. Reliability: The average internal cohesion is 0, 75 (Cronbach’ s a). The average supply-resupply reliability is 0,82 for a two-week intermediate period and 0,73 for a two-month intermediate period. Rights: Only psychologists and psychiatrists that are specialized in psychometrics and in this specific test are permitted to supply and analyze it. The report can be demonstrated to non-specialized people, too, as long as they have been trained to analyze the results. |
